Day 5 - This Must Be The Place

Well, it might be Friday, but here at the spa, it is just another day of me kicking cancer's ass. The more I talk with my cancer battle buddies, the more I KNOW I am in the right place. It is very humbling to hear everyone tell their stories. To hear of their courage in the face of their adversity, it is very inspiring.

While I wait to hear about my consultation, I continue with my daily treatments. Today, my team has added new items to include throughout my day. After talking with my nutritionist yesterday, I am a vegan, never would I have thought I would utter those words. This is not by choice, but animal products produce too much nitrogen for my compromised liver to currently process. We did discuss my concern with not getting enough protein, so now I do get pea protein shakes twice a day along with my 3 shots of juice. I receive an IV with some medication to help lower my liver enzymes. Another IV is to help with my swollen spleen. My day consists of about 8 different types of treatments.

It is slightly overwhelming to think of taking these protocols on my journey home, but I find comfort in the knowledge that my team is with me. This is a 3 week crash course on what I need to do to continue on my healing journey when I leave the spa. This is how I know I picked the right place as my team will support me through out the following year. I could not have assembled a team so collectively focused of eliminating my cancer in the U.S.. This highly collaborative group of individual specialists focused on my full recovery, goes back to the holistic approach that I found so appealing at the beginning.

I told you I would talk about some of the treatments that create a hostile environment that kills cancer. Although this is not a unique treatment to this spa, the Hyperberic chamber is one of the treatments I receive. The purpose of this is to force more oxygen into my body through pressure. This extra oxygen forces the cancer cells to die off from a highly oxygenated environment. My treatment consists of 30 minutes everyday and has proven very effective in healing the body. There are other benefits:

It aids in performance enhancement properties, similar to Lance Armstrong using blood doping to increase the oxygen in the blood.

It decreases the recovery time from surgery.

My favorite one is the cancer killing properties.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. I feel them when I'm not at 100%, it gives me courage and strength to know that you are with me.

Final Goodbye

Don't think of it as a goodbye, more like a see you later. This post is written by Jim's daughter Tyra. As many of you know my Dad...
