After all the tests and fasting, in the end the surgeon could not place the stent. Unaware that the surgery wasn’t successful, I lay in the recovery room and noticed how good I felt. No pain, no nausea and I had energy. I could feel a smile form from cheek to cheek since I was progressing towards a full recovery. Eventually, the doctor gave me the news, no stent was placed. You could tell he was disappointed after explaining that he had tried 4-5 times, unsuccessfully, to place the stent and had to abort the operation. I felt the disappointment within me rise, but my attitude changed when I remembered I still felt good. My liver is healing, maybe more slowly without the stent, but it is still progress. What a difference just a small change in attitude can make. On the drive back to the spa I focused on my feelings of gratitude.
This reminded me how often we focus on the numbers as an indication of tangible progress, but what do they really mean. Random samples of data collected to indicate where you existed on some bell curve. The confidence in which they are delivered by an expert. They are still opinions. I thought about how often an oncologist gives out the death sentence, when they cannot possibly know the exact date of when someone will die. A general estimation given without the hundreds of variables that motivate you, inspire you and the discipline and desire that drive you to succeed. Then the Dr’s stand there as if they witnessed a miracle when you did not follow their pattern of healing. Your job is to heal yourself, do your research, ask your questions, challenge the doctors, because you and you alone are responsible for your journey to recovery. They are your hired expert consultants to help you in finding the best strategies to your healing, not how to predict the future. Don’t let anyone tell you how long you can live, you are not a number or a statistic. You are human and unique in your own healing design.
Alright, I know that was a little deep, so let me lighten up the mood by describing another treatment at the spa. Hydrogen water, hydrogen air, hydrogen everywhere. A gas that was discovered to increase the PH in the body. As I said in an earlier blog about creating a hostile environment for cancer to grow, we enter into some basic chemistry… Acidity. You remember the lower PH is acidic; the higher PH is basic. Cancer likes it acidic and acidic body tends to have more inflammation from stress, diets consisting of more red meats and diets high in sugar. You can achieve this basic state on your own by cutting these things out of your life, consistently drinking a 4 oz glass of lemon water in the morning and eating several cups a day of leafy greens for lunch and dinner. But here at the spa, everything is taken to an extreme measure. Not only does our nutrition incorporate these strategies, but we add 48 oz a day of hydrogen infused water and breathe hydrogen infused air for an hour a day. A continued effort to create and maintain an alkaline state in the body, enables me to heal faster and kill the rogue cells. I have had so much hydrogen, I am lucky I haven’t floated away like a balloon.
My nurse, Jose, would like to be able to leave for the weekend and he is patiently waiting to give me a vitamin D shot. Thank you for your prayers and love.
