Today I learned patience is not a virtue, it is a necessity.
The stent will get put in, just not today or tomorrow. This is due to the Dr wanting me to see a gastroenterologist to ensure they can do the procedure laparoscopically. This isn't bad news, it is just irritating that I had to fast this morning before the surgery. We were all hopeful that I would have the surgery today, so I was not able to have breakfast or lunch. News finally came down at 3:00pm that the surgery would not happen... so I finally got to eat!! Hard enough being on a vegan diet, but then only being served a bowl of mushrooms and sweet potatoes for dinner is not a substitute for poke bowl.
Otherwise, it was a great day...lots of energy, no pain and no nausea! I got to enjoy some time in the sun to help eliminate some of the bilirubin and was able to complete most of my treatments.
Two of my fellow battle warriors received some bad news today, that their battles will be longer than anticipated. These are 2 new people to the program and their cancer has spread from scans recived before they came to the spa. Both are very strong and my hope is that they find the courage and reassurance that coming here was the correct decision and that the treatments are effective and will turn this around.
This seemed like an appropriate word for what we are all dealing with at the spa.
Resilience: the capacity of a person to maintain their core purpose and integrity in the face of dramatically changed circumstances, the ability to not only overcome setbacks but to also move forward.
Thank you for your love, support and prayers!
